I use XTerra pretty often to carry heavy loads or pull a trailer. My old leaf springs have failed couple weeks ago. I will be replacing leaf springs next weekend. I want to make the new springs stronger to withstand the loads.

Does it make sense at all to add 1 old leaf to the new leaf pack? Kind of "add-a-leaf" mod but using the old stock leaf instead of special AAL leaf.

PS. Yep, I know I may (or may not) need the longer center bold.

You would be better off having a leaf pack custom made to handle your hauling and towing needs. I would expect the old leaf would cause the new pack to weaken sooner as it is no longer capable of holding up the truck.

Finding a stiffer shock would be more helpful. I have the old adjustable Rancho shocks and adjusting it to the stiffest setting definitely improves towing.
