Here are some pics I snapped from our last weekend wheeling in Lake Tahoe. We started at the staging area with 4 trucks but Greg, Dos Equis, went home early.
We tried Barker Pass and spurred off on to the Rubicon entrance and did a "no-named" obstable called "Dollar Hill" at the start of the Rubicon entrance leading to Cadillac Hill.
The whole trail is fun, narrow, rocky and crosses streams a couple of times. On many switch backs, we had to do 3-4-point turns.

It's a fun trail but not for stock. It ends back to Barker Pass and we drove the gravel road straight out to Lake Tahoe (literally).

Here are some Pics

I also took some short clips, 30 secs, of Dollar Hill.

Hey guys, thanks for all the pics. We got to the large rocks on the rubicon and tried to get by them, but it was pretty hairy without sliders. I think if I had some sliders I may have been able to do it. Skid plates would have definitely mad me more comofortable as well. We got hung up on the second large set of rocks, and spent a good half hour backing out of there; that was a little worrisome, but we made it out. We finished off the barker pass loop with no problems other than a few more pinstripes. Well, better luck next time. I can't wait to get some mods so we can follow you guys. laugh

Cool... smile So, while you guys were on Rubicon, there were no other vehicles coming/going by you? You guys got to spend as much time as you wanted/needed?

Judging by the size of the trophies, I am guessing that Huey one "Best in Show", and Andy won "Best Custom" and xsal won "Best Stock"?

How does it feel to have an "Award Winning Show Truck"?

[LOL] [Laughing] [LOL] No offense, but if you call an Xterra w/... 3" suspension lift, 32" tires, winch, rock sliders, some skids, a couple extra sets of lights, etc..there are so many trails out there that this "stock" xterra can take than just some unpaved roads. smile

This year there was only 1 category, and it put us to 1st (Huey), 2nd (Andy), and 3rd (me). It might have depended upon how well you listed all your mods on the entry form, though. wink

I was wondering why any of you would be considered stock. So there was only one category this year. "Modified".... with 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes.

Was there anything else handed out besides the cool trophies and t-shirts.

Anyone going to write up a "report" about the Xterra event? I am curious to hear about what I missed. (Meeting the Nissan Execs, playing with the RC trucks, free food, free t-shirts?, free hats?, etc)

At what part of your pictures does Barker Loop start?

We actually didn't take the Barker Pass loop as defined in Tony Huegel's Sierra Nevada Byways guide. The route as shown in the book is relatively easy and is totally doable by a stock vehicle.

Basically, where the Barker Pass road splits to the right (north), there's a large sign indicating so. We didn't take pictures of the fork. The left (west) fork continues on, which is essentially the end of the Rubicon trail. The photos showing "Dollar Hill" (it's actually called Dollar Hole ) are a not far along the Rubicon from the fork. Most people would probably wisely turn around here.

After a mile or so on this, there's another right-hand fork in the road, which is the Barker OHV route. The fork is about 1/2 mile from Observation Point. We turned off the Rubicon trail here and wound our way along this narrow, rocky route back up to the main Barker Pass road. I would not recommend our route for a stock vehicle.
