#113813 - 12/07/07 11:01 AM Mod day anybody?

Hi guys,

I feel so freaking cheap asking about this... But does anybody plan on hosting a mod day? I would like to put 255/85-R16 (this requires some minor bending) before CampWAMP and I am going to call both Calmini and Shrock to find out if they can get a pair of sliders within 2 weeks (yeah, I am laughing too, but its worth a try).

The parking lot next to my apt building has a funny shape to it and if I work on the car there, I'll be in the way of people entering and exiting. If sliders do not work out, then I still need to bend the inner fenders to make the wheels fit. This will require taking off the wheel, heating the plastic with a heat gun and then going ape on it with a hammer. So, if any of your are doing work before August 4th and you don't mind some company, please let me know.

Thank you!

Thanks man! Sliders are out... Guys from Shrock said that there is a 5-6 lead time and that's for the ones without powder coat.

At this pint it looks like I need to get the tires and then spend some quality time banging on the fenders. This should take 1 hr max.

Ciao!

Perfect timing!!!
I was just thinking of posting one for the weekend after this one laugh .
I will be needing a stock or modded X so I can reconnect ALL the fuel/ smog lines and charcoal box in the right order.
Sunday would be best for me.

Hey,

No, I did not get the sliders and my financial situation put me behind on the tire purchase. I will be doing Camp WAMP on stock Rugged Trails which I think should hold up well if aired down. On the other hand, it will be good to find out how far I can push the stock OR model.

If anybody still wants to do a mod day, please let me know. Here are the items that I plan to install before my two trips this winter:

- Sliders.

- Rear Shrock bumper.

- Some armor.

- TC UCAs, Radflo Coils for the front, Alcan springs for the rear. I will need some help with this one since I am new to wrenching.

I will need some advanced help with the last item since I am fairly new to wrenching. As I've stated before, I'll bring my tools, beer, food, 15 camels, etc.

Beggars cannot be choosers, so let me know what dates are good for you smile

Thanks,
/v

Of the items listed above, which do you already have in hand?

None! I am an optimist though. My trip to Death Valley is not until November and my winter camping trip is not going to happen until December or January.

Money's the key here -- if I can get somebody to host a mod day, I don't have to spend $$$ on installation and that means parts will arrive sooner. Otherwise, I have to save enough $$$ for the mods + labor...

You can DEFINITELY get help to install parts. In order to schedule time for a mod day, it'll be important to know what you expect to install on that day.

I would guess that for everything you've listed, you'd need TWO mod days. (The suspension upgrade will probably take a full day, since none of us have worked on a 2nd-gen X yet, and it'll be a bit of a learning curve... but definitely doable.)

Also, I would plan to install all of your armor before putting on the lift, so that the suspension can be set properly to accomodate the new weight.

Either myself or Huey would be happy to host, but there's no point in scheduling a day yet if you don't have the parts at least on order.

Okay, I will keep you posted smile Suspension will come pre-set for the additional load that I am going to carry (guys at PRG products are awesome from what I hear).

I can lend my skills when the day comes. I got lots of tools. I don't smoke, but I do love me a bowl of Japanese ramen. wink
