I'm going to get the LSD for the front end of my X but I can't figure out where to get the work done. I've read enough posts that it's not something for the faint hearted so I want to make sure it's an established shop. Any suggestions? Sorry my presence here has been rather scarce. I am planning a winter drive of a few days going south on 395 from Carson City and then back. Maybe 4 to 5 days. We'll be staying in cheap hotels. We've traveled the 395 corridor many times but never in the winter. My buddy and I will be working with our new Canon Digital Rebels we bought ourselves for Xmas.

I am waiting to see what Nikon has when the D70 is finally released. I may end up going with the D100, since the d70 might be a downgrade from my current N80 Body. Oh yeah, and I gotta find the $1400 in funds to treat myself to that little toy.

Rear End Specialties should be able to handle it. http://www.rearendspecialties.com/ It should be straight forward if you bought a unit from either Calmini or 4x4Parts. If you got a unit out of a 300zx then there will be some work needed for it to fit. BTW, good choice on the Rebel Digital, my friend bought one for Christmas also and loves it!

Dang, my brother has a Canon Digital Rebel, too. Damn nice camera. Well, anything's nice compared to my old Olympus 1.3MP. Hey, Gary, I noticed they're closing the 4WheelParts in Santa Clara. I guess they're moving everything over to the store on W San Carlos. My brother probably won't be happy - he had better experiences with the guys at the Santa Clara store.

The Santa Clara store let their lease expire because they said the rates were too high for the space they had. They do plan to re-open again somewhere else in Santa Clara. If you've been to 4 Wheel Parts enough you'll see some employees jump between the two locations from time to time. Dumb question, Rearend Specialties will work on front ends? Thanks for the recommendation.

They R&R'd both of my diffs when I upgraded my gear ratio. Expect to pay a bit over $400 for the install if you drive the truck in. I think R&R of the front axle assembly is around $285. Replacing the open diff with the LSD will probably cost around $120.

Well, if that's true, take some pics of the underside of the truck and show the mechanic the pics first, because that's what I had to pay when they did mine. When I asked why the front was so expensive, they said it's because it's IFS, and therefore more complicated. I guess they got the better part of that deal, huh?

Either walking in or driving in, Rearend Specialties won't do the work. In either case I'll be going to Honda & Nissan City in Santa Clara. If I can figure out how to drop the diff I'll go that way, 'bout time I saved some money.
