Since the Shaver Lake/Dinkey Creek area is the closest real off roading area to my location, I'd like to go up there and check out some trails. Any idea if this is even possible this time of year? Thanks.

Most of us in NCCX aren't as conveniently located to that region as you are. So, you're probably the best resource we have to determine if the snow is low enough for a trip!

Go scout it out for us and let us know what you find!

Or, you can contact the forest service, but that's boring. smile

There actually isn't near as much snow up there as usual. I go skiing up at Sierra Summitt a couple times a month and there is very little snow on the ground until you get to around 7,000 feet. But, I've never been off of 168, so there might be too much snow. I might just have to take a side trip the next time I go up there to ski.

Dude! Take a side trip up there for the side trip! That region is a place I'd like to start exploring when the snow is gone! laugh

Well, I looked around a bit yesterday after skiing for a while and it looks like the trails (roads) are closed...at least the ones around Huntington. I guess I'll have to wait til spring thaw to explore more up there.
