Anyone up for this?

Scenic Hills Cruise 2003 Set to Wind Through the Hill County

On October 18, 2003, the third Saturday in October, members of more than 20 area car clubs and one antique motorcycle club will embark on AACOG's annual Scenic Hills Cruise. The starting point in Leon Valley will be the parking lot for the Church on the Rock on top of the old stage drivers' "Nine Mile Hill" on Bandera Road. The Leon Valley Chamber of Commerce and Gunn Honda will provide breakfast goodies and morning coffee to cruise participants. With a panoramic view of the valley as backdrop, the "Pearl's Girls" will interject a Polynesian note with their performance of Hawaiian songs and hula dances. Another stop in Leon Valley is the historic Huebner-Onion Homestead at 6613 Bandera Road.
Other communities will welcome the cruisers with a broad variety of hospitality including the Full Moon Inn (suburbs of Luckenbach) hospitality stop; photo opportunities with old-fashioned, 1930s-vintage gas pumps in Waring; a sip of "homemade" cider in Medina; lemonade at the base of Bandera Pass near where the Army gave camels a try (Camp Verde); refreshments at a motorcycle museum just outside of Lost Maples near Vanderpoole; Kerrville's hospitality stop at the Y.O. Resort Hotel lobby; a hospitality stop at the Comfort Chamber of Commerce with the added attraction of the annual Comfort Antique Show in the City Park, a western style hospitality stop at the Bandera Convention and Visitors Bureau, another community stop at the Quilt Show and Sale held at the Silver Sage Corral, and Boerne's two hospitality stops for the cruisers at the lobby of the Boerne City Hall and the Pre-Holiday Craft Show & Chili Cook-Off held at the Kendall County Fair Grounds (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; free admission and ample parking; purchase of cup for $1 after 2 p.m. provides access to sampling all 50 to 60 cook-off entries).

This fall drive offers special driving treats. Old #9 is an honest-to-goodness, unimproved segment of a very early Texas highway, where the grasses and fall flowers wave at the edge of the narrow, shoulderless two lanes. At sunset-if they haven't already migrated to Mexico for the winter-more than a quarter million bats spiral upward and out over the hill country at the Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area. If the frosts cooperate, the changing leaves at Lost Maples are spectacular. All in all, the beautiful hill country scenery combines with historical and friendly communities and their fun shopping venues to make this cruise a favorite with everyone.

For more information, contact AACOG Tourism at (210) 362-5220 or AACOG Community Relations at (210) 362-5204.

I don't see why you couldn't come. Our club has never disincluded anybody in the past. Heck the Frontier owner who hosted our Mod Parties is not even a member of the club!

Come on out. We could always use a Frontier for our newletter's Who Dat?

All,

Here is a link I found:
http://www.aacog.dst.tx.us/tourism/scenic_cruise.htm

We (me, wife, lab) would like to do this, but also need some more info on what the plans are so we can plan accordingly. I don't mind camping over night, and may need to do so since we will have our dog with us.

Ken.

this is one of those "wait to the last minute things". may need to call in sick. who all plans on going and when/where is everybody meeting? dad has butt load of farmland in new braunfels and maybe can set people up for the night (either camping or inside, will check on it).

Looks like Scott, Roger, Daniel and I (Ken) are planning on going down to Austin for it. From the map of Leon and surrounding area, its just outside of Austin. Does anyone have a planned route that we are supposed to take or is it just drive on your own type thing?

Actually the meet starts in Helotes which is just West of San Antonio. It's the Luckenbach stop that I'm looking forward too!

I talked to Clint last night and sounds like he's in but I'll wait for him to chime.

So if I read the article right we need to contact someone to let them know how many vehicles in our group.

I can't make it. I've got to get new tires which I get to order next week smile so I have no extra cahs right now.

Looks like everything/body is falling apart. Handbrake says she wants to do some stuff around the house. Instead maybe we can hit the Den on Sunday. Eh, Zed?
