I was driving down 183 yesterday in all of it's traffic glory when a 16 year old girl rear ended me in her daddy's huge farm truck. I would post pictures, but I don't think you'de even be able to see the damage, it was that minor. My hitch took out the front grill of that truck.

I'll get a new bumper and alignment out of the deal. But it did crack the fiberglass of my amp rack, I'm sure I'll have to fight to have that fixed.

I'm just so proud of my truck, I can't believe it did not do anymore damage than that. I hate traffic!!

That sucks, didn't you just get the X out of the body shop the other day.

Are you ok? That sucks. I've been waiting for it to happen to me, but it's just not in the cards. I could really use a nice tire carrier bumper. laugh

Hope everything works out with it.

God-damn! You were behind me most of the way down 183. I watched you pass me on 183 when I exited at Duval!

Where'd it happen?!

I picked up my X yesterday morning, when I saw Graham, from the body shop getting it fixed where it got keyed. On my way to workout about 5:45, I got rear-ended. I drove it today and it feels a little weird. I'm just waiting for an adjuster to come out.

FYI - my rear bumper was around $150 for the part, and the plastic side pieces are around $35 each. Assuming there's no frame alighment issues, it's a really simple replacement job... most of the SWXC/TNT guys could replace it easily...

I went ahead and let the body shop working out of Courtesy replace mine, since it only took about 1 day. I did ask them to order the parts first before I would leave it with them so it wouldn't sit around. Last time we let the Maxima sit at their shop waiting on parts, it got hail damage in their parking lot (which isn't covered by their insurance).

Oh yeah - throw in another $30 or so for bumper mount brackets.

Well I don't think I'm going to be so lucky as to just replace the bumper. The estimate right now stands at about $2500. She had insurance, but has not contacted them to give her statement, so I'm stuck just waiting.

It's clearly her fault, so tell her insurance company that getting her statement is their problem, not yours. You can also enlist your own insurance company to contact hers and tell 'em to get their a**es in gear.

Witnesses make all the difference man, if you just had one other person come forward and state they saw it happen (and they cannot be passengers in your vehicle) you don't need the other person to claim...

Other info that makes life easier - Get the VIN of every vehicle and plate. Make sure you get the DL # of every driver, and if anyone stops to help or you can just ask a car stopped near you in traffic to act as a witness, life gets a hell of a lot easier.. Everyone pretty much knows to get the insurance policy number, insurance phone, name and contact number of the drivers involved as well.. and a traffic incident report number is handy too.

Insureance companies are supposed to get all this also, but if you do a bit of fact finding right away, they move much faster!

I know Tracy's already stuck.. but this is good info for anyone else... I seem to have the bad luck of getting hit by people a lot... (like 5 times, sometimes they've even jumped the median to tag my car!) so I've been through this a few times.. frown
