As Robert mentioned in the other thread, our newest newsletter is available here at www.swxc.org. It is a tad large, so you dial-up peeps will need to kick back for a few while it downloads. If anyone wants it snail mailed, shoot me a line, and I will get one off to you as soon as practical.

Robert, thanks for all your help as 'the one quietly working in the background'. It has been most appreciated.

Scott

After much nagging on the part of our President, the latest edition of the newsletter is out. As always it's available now on our webpage. Its large as usual (747K), so take a coffee break if you are still on dialup.

What's a Newletter?

Great job on the New-s-letter. Scott, the poems/lyrics thing has got to stop. No more, please. Spare us.

Didn't realize when I wrote that it was going into the newsletter, or I would have done a better job. Hell, I didn't even know I was gonna write that much. Next time, I'll take a pad and pencil and get better details. Anyway, congrats, great job and all that nonsense.

Poems: No like? You can always write the WhoDat? smile I could use the help; seriously.

(I have to admit though, the one I came up with in 30 seconds for Brian moving did suck, but that SurfinTeacher one...)

Yes and yes. The newsletter is only as good as the events I go on, and I can't hit em all. The more contributions the better. Either that, or you get to put up with more of my nonsense. smile

OK, I changed a few parameters in distiller and recreated the file.

BTW I just noticed that Acrobat Reader 6.0 will read the document to you if you want. Kind of funny, don't know if older versions will do this.

Good to hear Brian. If anyone else needs/desires/can't sleep without a hard copy, I have a few laying around.

Sorry to butt in, but that PDF takes over 2 minutes just to open on a 2Ghz P4 with 1GB of RAM. In Acrobat 5.0 it simply won't open at all.

I think the problem is with the complexity of the Xterra font. You might want to cut back to only 1 or two typfaces instead of the 9 that are in there, it helps Acrobat a lot.

Same slowness here and its been like that a while. I didn't know it was caused by too many fonts though.

Really? Opened right up on mine. Wonder if it's a Mac vs PC problem?

That could be. I am pretty sure Robert is creating it on a Mac so it may be a PC issue.

Yep it opens right up on my 1GHZ Mac, and even fairly quick on my 200Mhz 8500.

Just tried it on my Windows 2000 Dell Laptop here at work, opened immediately, but took about 15 seconds to finish downloading.
