We have a run planned for this weekend to Anza Borrego State Park that is open to anyone so please come out [Wave] and enjoy a great time in one of most scenic desert state parks in California.

The BorregoFest by www.adventure4x4.net will be going on the same weekend with Fj cruisers, Hummers, Jeep’s Toyota’s. We’re going to participate and share the trails, good times, and maybe the group feast/meet so you can pick and choose what you want to do/go.

Meet spots are:

10/21 Borrego Springs Visitors Center ~ 10am
10/22 Sunday- Tamarisk Grove Campground ~ 10:30

Trails/Activities:

10/21 - Fonts Point & Truckhaven Trails (easy to moderate): 15 miles / 2hrs

Fonts is a 2wheel drive wash drive that offers a spectacular view of the badlands at the end. Truckhaven is a historic sandy wash/ grade route that offere access to the scenic cannoball, arroyo salado, and other narrow canyons.

10/21 - Calcite Mine (moderate): 2 miles / 1.5 hrs

Short but sweet trail that starts out in a wash and then starts to climb on a rocky ledge but offers views and an optional hike in a slot canyon. Modified trucks can continue on pass the slot to the great overlook but its tight and a bit tippy in places before the mine site on the top.

10/21 - South Coyote Canyon Trail (Moderate to difficult): 13 miles / 2 hrs

The first half of Coyote is pretty mind/scenic with some water crossing until the up hill rock garden that requires a 4x4. Stock vehicles can make the hill climb but real off-road tires and rock sliders are recommended and some lift will help. After the rock garden pile the trail is pretty wide/open mild with some interesting valley views before the side spur to Sheep Canyon.

Camping on 10/21
Sheep Canyon at the end of the Coyote Cyn Trail; primitive site

Early morning or early evening hike to the Oasis in Sheep Canyon

Night run possibilities around the Collins Valley to the Middle Willows trail end and back

10/22- Blair Valley Loop (easy): 10 miles / 1 hours.

Easy scenic loop of valley with accesed to some hikes to the Pictograph or Morteros trails which are short but intresting before heading out for some real whellin

10/22 - Rodriquez and Chariot Canyons (Easy to moderate): 20 miles about 2.5 hours.

At this point we may change some of the trail itinerary depending on the other feast groups or who’s shows up so we make sure there is room from everybody to enjoy the trails w/ minimum waits & jam ups.
