Ok 5 speed 4x with a odd sound for the couple of minutes at warm up. It sounds like something reving but mechanical ? Its not the engine but clutch ? Tranny ? In gear or out if i try to move. but if I let it warm up for a few minutes there is nothing ANY CLUES ? Could this be tranny fluid (5 speed) is there clutch fluid ? not to sound dumb but grasping. This only happens on the first statup of the day

Thanks
Todd

newxer,
Mmm, interesting problem.
Could you describe the noise a bit more?
You do have hydraulic clutch fluid...prolly getting to be about time to change it out as it's just brake fluid in there. When was your tranny / transfer case fluid last changed?
Have your been under the truck when it was making the noise to pinpoint it a bit more?
How is your clutch pedal travel? How many miles are on the clutch? I was originally thinking of the throwout bearing, but if they make noise, it's usually all the time when the pedal is in.
Is your engine oil level constant? Ie you don't show any loss? Do you ever notice a burning smell from the clutch?

newxer,
Well, your change interval for the manual tranny fluid is 60k...so I'd suggest doing that in any case. That should be part of your regular maintenance. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to help solve your noise problem.
You're going to have to get underneath the thing while she's making the noise to see if you can pinpoint it to the tranny, transfer case or some other component.
You didn't mention how your clutch pedal height is. Is that within spec? The owner's manual has the specified number.
Hmm, how about your clutch hydraulic fluid? Is the level ok? If you pump the clutch a few times, does the noise go away?
