Could a hood scoop help out performance for the X ? Especially say if I were to have a cold air intake? I'm really just wandering, because I think it might look cool too. Thx.

It will increase drag and wind resistance and decrease performance.

I'll take two scoops...of ice cream! laugh

Sorry, the airbox on the Xterra is totally in the wrong place to be able to use a scoop, and having a scoop that does nothing, well *cough* riceboy *cough*!

Regardless of whether your tastes lean that way [Rainbow] or not the guy does love his Xterra. Now what I like was the chick in the background. [ThumbsUp]

Non-functional hood scoop = GAY.

Just like those fake scoops on the side of the Mustangs and some of the hoods.

I don't know - I think it depends on the vehicle...as long as it's functional. For example, what do you think about the scoop on the new 4-Runner (5th thumbnail over)?

I hope you guys aren't flaming me, i'm just showing what i saw. I personally would never put a useless scoop on my ride, but i still think it looks pretty good. I think the 4runner looks mean with the scoop...Anything that is not functional and even increases drag/decreases power is pointless. [Finger]

So that's a no? laugh I figured that it wouldn't do anything for the X, but it never hurts to ask. And as for the scoop on the 4Runner, I think as long as its done right it could look good, which it is. Alright, thx for the replies.

Actually I hate what Toyota has done with the 4runner. The best was in the 80's when you could remove the top... that was awesome. Now they have a V8 with less power than there V6, and that hood scoop is [Rainbow] in my opinion. They also have a few other features that I think detract from the statement a 4runner should be making. It’s supposed to be there rugged SUV; they have like 6 other ones to appeal to family life. Hell the running boards hang down like 6 inches, and have lights in them... great feature for a luxury car, but not a rugged SUV.
