what's the life expectancy of the stock alternator? How long did ur alter- last? I need to get an idea so I'll know when to swap mines with a heavy duty one before it gives out on me at 8000ft in 30degrees or lower.

On my 94 pathfinder, it pooped out at 12X,XXX miles.

If you have an '04, I would say you have a while before you need to worry, unless you submerge it in muddy water often.

36123 miles. I know because the fuckers at the dealer wouldnt help out and only 123 miles after the warranty expired!!!

Beware of muddy water, it will greatly reduce the life of your alternator. I've replaced my alternator 2 times in the first 2 years of owning the vehicle.

170,000+ miles on the origional (still going...) with plenty of wheel'n in all conditions. No complaints.

If you are that close to the warranty 312002, you should take it up with Nissan USA rather than just a local dealership. I'm sure it's too late, but next time they should fix it...

Or just Ferris Bueller'r it for a couple of hours!
