Hey all, I am new to this forum and new to the xterra family! I am looking to purchase a 2000 Xterra 4x4 with 103,000 miles on it. I priced it as an XE, "only because it didn't have a sunroof and I believe they were standard on SE". Anyways, my question is how do I tell if it has limited slip differential? It definetely has four wheel drive... do they go together? Is one better than the other? It is a five speed stick if that helps. Thanks!

If it has factory fog lights, alloy wheels, and the tow hook up front, it has the LSD as well:

The ones with the LSD will say "LSD oil only" on the rear differential casing.

Just bear in mind that the LSD (clutch-type) has a really low torque spec and is not very useful.

The best advice I can give you is make sure that you don't pay too much for your used X. I see people selling them way over book value all of the time. Just don't rush and get the right one at the right price.

Regardless of what year or trim level you select, it should be a fun and versatile vehicle.

But, the 2000 has the best LSD of the 00-04 production, though with 103K it's probably not all that good anymore anyway.
