so what do I do?? Can I pull the plugs off and hit the spark plugs with a pressure washer or should I try and break it up with a screw driver and an air hose??

Wear safety glasses and blow it out with an air hose.

Dont pull the plugs before cleaning the area....that will led to lots of bad dirt directly into the engine if you pull the plugs then clean the area. Soap and light water will do the trick.
