I have a 2007 Off Road 6spd. When I upshift from 2nd gear, 3rd gear will occasionally grind. When I down shift from 4th gear, 3rd gear always grinds. If I down shift from 4th to 2nd and then back ro 3rd, no grind. Does this sound like a synchro problem?

I had the 2nd gear to 3rd gear grind problem in my Ford explorer. I was told by the dealer that it was the synchros breaking in. Eventually it went away. But the 4th to 3rd downshift, I would take it in to the dealar to check it out. That could be a shift fork issue. Being that I had a Ford, problems were expected. But with a Nissan being such high quality, I would be a bit concerned. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

My 02 did the same thing and it was the synchros that were going out. Nissan replaced the tranny only 150 miles till the warranty expired. Don't let them tell you that is a normal noise cause it aint!!!! Good luck!!!
