Which new Phil Anselmo band project thing? Is this "Eibon" -- his collaboration with Fenriz of Darkthrone and one of the guys from Satyricon?
Info on that, and a sample, can be found at the Moonfog Website.
http://www.moonfog.com/artists.asp?id=63&art=12 Or are you talking about Down? Viking Crown? Necrophagia? Phil has about a hundred "project bands"...yet Eibon is the one I am most excited about. Darkthrone ("The Most Hated Band in the World") is a legendary metal band - combine their sound with Phil's aggression and Satyricon's sense of melody and songwriting, and you've definitely touched on something volatile.
As for "Headbanger's Ball" - it never was any good. I recall, as a kid, having to sit through scores of sound-alike c*ck-rock glam bands just to see a Death Angel or a Sepultura video. I also recall that they played the King Diamond "Sleepless Nights" video once and never played it again, to my knowledge. Yet "Trixter" got constant rotation. It just wasn't worth it to me. I am sure now the glam that once polluted the program has been replaced by the cookie-cutter sounds of nu-metal posers, so why bother?
Now Headbanger's Ball in Europe, that was a different story.
