An hour ago our pool was crystal clear. Not now! [Laughing]

Started with high wind gusts, then the dust wall, then the rain, thunder, and lightning.

The temp dropped about 15-20 degrees in about 10 min too. Nice! laugh

sometimes i wish i had a pool then other times I'm glad I don't. This falls into the latter category.

Only got a bit of wind here in Mesa - must have all hit West Side & North like it did the other night frown

Here's my favorite lightening shot from last year tho.

Have a better camera this year, so hope I see some lightening this side of town. Next 7 days we're supposed to be hit pretty hard as the moisture is all pulling in.

Yeah, by this morning the pool is all clean again minus the dirt on the steps. I'll brush that off and I'm done. [ThumbsUp]

Yeaa - sucks for that dude. I used to have power lines that kinda ran at the back of my back yard at the old place.

My 2nd favorite shot that makes me chuckle every time is the 'Oh Shit that was close - Pickup the camera and run indoors' shot.

Yeah, that's twice this week with the 1 hour+ power outage. Every time the wind blows...

I could have told you all that the storm was coming since I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon cleaning up the yard and driveway. I was quite pleased after I got all the neighbors leaves out of the yard and the patio/driveway/walkways all swept up. Of course we would get a major dust storm that would leave my yard in worse shape than when I started yesterday.

My best shot so far from this year, over my wall earlier this evening. Seems to have died down a little out there now.

Very cool lightning pics. What technique are you using to get the shots?

Clearly it's not the "just leave the shutter open and hope lightning strikes during the exposure" strategy.

Resurecting this thread since the monsoon season albeit slow, still churns out some interesting shots.

No that's not the city burning, it's just one of our beloved dust storm I caught rolling through Phoenix last Thursday eve.

ya know, the first time i read the thread title, it was kinda quick and i thought it said the moonshine had arrived, so i opened it only to discover it said monsoon. frown

awesome pictures by the way. i dont know much about cameras, so how do you catch the lightning strikes? is there a flash sensor or somethin in the camera that takes a picture when the lightning flashes or what?

South Mtn it was.
Not long after, there were no city lights. Only the odd red glow of the towers.

We were in Sedona today and got some good rain for a bit.
