So my carpets in my xterra were dirty with stains. So i took a household product that remvoed carpet stains and used it on the floor carpet and had no problems. Then i had a few spots on top of my roof carpet so i decided to clean them up as well. When i looked at the ceiling of my car in the back the next day they changed to a darker color sorta bleached i think. Any ideas what to do to get the original color back?

I thought for sure you were going to say you just put shag carpet on the roof of your X.

You know, I had the same thing happen on my old Malibu and I ended up cleaning the whole roof so that it would all be the same color. I smoked alot in that car so I think that had something to do w/ the big difference when cleaned.

It wasn't the same color as the X but similar. There may be a better solution but it worked out fine for me, kinda liked the new look actually.

Dude have you tried to wipe the area that is bleached with just water??? Maybe you didn't get all of the chemical out. Try that. I did the same thing happen to my Frontier and that worked out pretty good. Just watch out for shag carpet.

If the cleaner had bleach in it, forget about getting the color back.

I probably have the dealership put a new one in cause it looks like you can easily take it apart...

check ebay.... there's a couple companies that sell OEM headliners for pretty cheap... Around $40.

Make sure you get a 1/8" headliner and not a 1/4" headliner, tho... The 1/8" is for imports and sunroofs... 1/4" was really only used in domestics.
