I have a silver 2000x, touch up paint is darker than my x, any suggestions on how to lighten it. It shows pretty bad on my paint chip repair on door. the 2000 looks like it has some gray or blue in the silver mix.

Did you get the correct paint code? They changed the shade of silver in the 2004 model year, so silver is not silver is not silver necessarily.

FWIW, I've always found silver one of the most difficult colors to match or touch up.

I had a similar issue when painting a quarter panel on a white Acura that was about 4 years old at the time. The paint had faded enough to where the paint was not even close, using the paint code from Acura. I had to take in the fuel door cover to get a match and buy a quart or it. Worked pretty well.

Keep in mind, you are touching up with basecoat only; no clear. It will always look "touched up".

I always recommend to remove the majority of the bristles from the brush and try to get it to about the size of a large needle. Remember, fill in the scratch, don't paint over it.
