Shortly after getting our Xterra last autumn I decided to wash off the mag chloride using a brush at one of those hand wash places.
Needless to say I have lots of shallow scratches on one side. I have tried using Meguirs scratch X but it has little or no effect.
The scratches are only in the surface layer (clear coat I presume). Is there a way to get out these kind of scratches ? They mostly go up and down so I can't even claim to have got them while 4wheeling.
Thanks.

Keep in mind that products like Meguiar's and such might take a little time and won't cure your issues right off the bat.
Reapply #1, #2 and #3 a few times over some time and they should slowly fade away...

Thanks
I was assuming that if they worked, they worked immediately. As you may have guessed I know very little about keeping vehicles looking nice.

I don't really see a point in re-applying #3 every time, it's the final wax coating, not a polisher or cleaner. Try #1 a few times, it'll wear down the surface area around the scratches and eventually make it less visible. Remember, you're not removing the scratches as much as removing the surface around the scratches. Use #2 after that to get the super shine back, it'll bring on the gloss that you want which you'll lock in with #3 at the end.
If you don't have all #1,2,3 products, I'm sure that Scratch X stuff will work fine just as well, make sure you apply some wax after.

The reason for reapplying #3 as the last step is actually kind of important!
After you use a product like #1, it will more than likely remove any wax on your paint. #2 is more of a polish, which really gives the paint it's shine. Up to this point, you have NOT APPLIED ANY WAX to protect your paint. That's where #3 comes in.
Even if you skip #1 and use #2, you still need #3 when you're done.
Of course, you can just use #3 by itself.
