I took my kids camping last week. We had a nice big campfire. The X was parked downwind of the fire with the hatch open and now I can't get rid of the smoky smell Anybody got any suggestions?

Try the fabric refresher by Zep products. It'll work on even the harshest smoke odor. Back when I was younger, I worked a summer at Hertz, and that's what the vehicle service attendants used on the rentals. Amazing stuff. I know Home Depot carries a lot of their products, so they might have it. Otherwise, have someone at your local auto supply check into it...their website is www.zep.com

You could also try Fabreeze, available at "fine grocery stores near you..." You could try just vacuuming the truck well and airing it out on a nice warm afternoon with all the windows open. Smoke is a particulate, after all - so it should come out fairly easily. Cigarette smoke is another matter - that crap seeps into and coats everything.

A firefighter back in the day, before I learned not to park my car downwind from a house fire I had that problem often.
Febreeze worked good for me.

When, the sun does come out (to heat it up in there), I like to put fabric softner sheets under my seats. Gives it a yummy smell!

In addition to treating the fabric and rugs you'll need to clean the plastic trim and interior glass too. Use your favorite glass cleaner and for the 'hard' plastic I've found that clear household ammonia and water will do a good job. It leaves no residue and will also work on the glass pretty good. It got 10 years of ciggy smoke out of my pathy after I finally quit. dave and xtoy - non-smoking interior not

Katie, do you prefer Snuggles Brand(TM) or... Actually, that's a great idea. Dryer sheets are good in your clothing drawers - and especially in gym and equipment bags! (I use 'em in my snowboarding gear bag). Another favorite trick is applying a scented oil or perfume/cologne to cotton balls and tossing a few under the seat.
