i know armor-all blows monkey balls. is there anything out there that is good for cleaning the interior surfaces (dash, console, etc)? or am i better off just getting one of those static dusting things to get the dust and dirt and using a damp terrycloth towel for the stubborn stuff?

thanks,
dm

The best solution is also the cheapest... A clean, damp rag! Wipe everything down when you wash the X, and she'll keep on looking new. Once in a while, I apply Mother's "Natural Shine" protectant - not too pimpish, lasts a while and adds the all-important UV protection.

Get a small duster brush for the vents and the nooks and crannies.

Try to touch the clear piece over the gauges as little as humanly possible - it scratches if you look at it funny.

Every now and again, spray some ScotchGard(TM) over all the carpeting and seats.

Rubber floor mats are cleaned well with Simple Green and a stiff brush.

I actually use a SOFT medium size paint brush to clean off dust and stuff on my
console, radio face-plate and such... As for other stuff... I use Simple Green
and some water mixed together... Get a clean cotton cloth and dip it in
the mixture... Wring out the excess mixture and wipe dash and stuff...
No problems yet... Although I should look for something that has UV protection...
Hhmmm... I'll look into what BP uses, Mother's Natural Shine...

I use my shop vac with one of those brush attachments, the round one with the bristles all the way around. Can be purchased at Lowes or Home depot for about $4. Works great on the whole interior because the bristles agitate the dust and dirt so the vacumn can get it up. And then i clean everything with plain ol soap and water. If its a really stubborn stain I'll use a little purple stuff. Just make sure not to leave it on to long or it will bleach out the plastic. On the carpet I use Blue Majic which i get from my Detail supplier but any foaming carpet cleaner and a good brush seems to work great.

blue magic is great. i used to use that on the carpetting of my old altima all the time. i was able to snag a few bottles of it from pep boys for a little more than a buck a bottle.
