i took the fairing off the roof rack to clean underneath it (and indeed the entire roof rack to get a good coat of wax up there).

the wife set a rag full of carpet cleaner....spot shot?....on the fairing and like tom sizemore, it ate the black out of it.

i'm left with a large, white, crumpled wash cloth sized 'stain'.

i'd love to repaint it black, or even charcoal. but i'm not sure what kind of paint would stick best. i've used vinyl dye on plastic in the past...but if you guys know of a paint that would look good, let me know.

krylon fusion works great on plastic. You could give that a shot.

i used it to paint an RC boat. Its ABS, and idk what kind of plastic the fairing is but heres a pic of how its got some really nice color.

of course if you do black, black is black. Except for gloss or flat i guess..

I painted mine with Krylon semi-flat black. If you prep it well, it will hold up just fine. That type of plastic takes paint very well.

Ever thought about using some heculiner or something.

ok, i'll give the fusion paint a shot. guess i'll do the back of it first to make sure i can get even coats on.

i tried some vinyl die on the back, but i think the plastic might be a bit too soft for that.

unless i fuck it up, i'll post a pic when i'm done.

i bought some rustoleum for plastic.

didn't find black in a matte finish...so i bought the 'hammered' texture.

i'll be painting later this week or weekend....
