About 4 months ago someone smashed the side of my car with something- pictures are attached.

[img=http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/884/xterraut1.th.jpg]

Is this something i need to take into a body shop? How much should i expect to be charged? I've never had any damage done to a car, so im in the blue on this one.

Is this something that should just be left to the pro, or maybe DIY.

Any help is appreciated .

I had the same issue happen on my rear bumper and from the advice from others here i ended up doing it myself.

The general consensus with rust and painting is to take your time! This is what i did as per advice from other members

-wash with soap and water to remove dirt/salt/debris
-clean with a citrus degreaser to remove grease/wax etc.
-prime
-sand the rough spots with a coarse grit
-prime again
-sand with a fine grit
-paint with your touch up colour
