Any suggestions for minimizing scratches on the interior plastic panels in the back. They are scraped up from snowboard edges, etc.

Thanks

Try a heat gun using indirect heat.

Im thinking about this Duplicolor product:

Dupli-Color® High Performance Vinyl & Fabric Coating. It’s perfect for vinyl seats, dashes, door panels, shifter boots and consoles.

Anyone use it?

Id just say deal with it, are they really that bad?? If you are going to only make more whats the point in fixing it you know? Just a thought.

They are quite bad, along with the cargo carpet (now covered). They are from the prior owner. The rest of the X cleaned up nice.

I use to stress over things like this..which i realized in the end...adds more stress? your x is suppose to be fun, enjoy it, let the signs of usage show. I have board scratches all over the rails on top, also dropped my board by accident on the fender etc.

Be proud to show off that your suv is actually being used and doing more than dropping the kids off at their hockey practice, (which it does quite well to)

Not stressing at all. But tell it to my wife as she notices these details (then I get to address them).

^^^ LOL i had the same thing and this was my reply... "Don't you have your own car??"

Seriously though, I'm not sure at all how to repair or prevent scrapes, I'd just say maybe try what you found or just protect things your carring more than usual, cover edges with foam or something, i dunno

Snowboard edges will scrape up most surfaces pretty easily. Whenever I haul something in the back of the X that could potentially cause scratches, i simply put a towel between it and the plastic.

yeah i do the same thing, i have a couple of hockey floor mats sitting in the back, usually just drape them over the edge when loading things.

oh yeah and next time tell the wife to shut it...

...and then get your blankets and pillow ready for the couch.

The thing that sucks is that we paid $$$ for this car. I man, $20k+ for something that scratches...

Secret clue.

Not being an ass, but when you buy a used car, you get all kinds of little annoyances like scratched plastic and such.

An option is to buy new pieces and snap them in.

I know a new Xterra is not cheap, but it's meant for rough usage. Mine already has scratches in the plastic in bacl from rockhounding. My husband stressed, but it's my Xterra and figure you have to expect that kind of thing. Like someone else said, "Don't you have your own truck?" wink

I've never tried it myself but I've also heard a heat gun works really well on most plastic scratches
