Ok i need some help with determining what kind of front brakes to get for my 03. One friend tells me ceramic brakes are bad another tells me they are good? What is a good brand of brakes to buy? Should I buy ceramic or semi-metallic? thankyou

rockauto.com or autozone.

Unless you race or otherwise absolutely need the couple feet more stopping power that more expensive pads and rotors provide, oem should be good enough.

ceramic pads will last longer but eat up your rotors faster. Semi-metallic pads wont eat up your rotors but do not last long and emit a lot of brake dust especially for a big 5,000lb truck. The choice is actually up to you. You will definately not get any better stopping power from either of the two unless your going 100+ mph which in our case is not allowed wink

With the X, go with OEM pads. Same goes for spark plugs. You can go cheaper and aftermarket with other things, but the Xs like OEM in those two applications, trust me.

I took the chance with mine, seeing as money is tight now, and bought a set of ceramic pads with two rotors for 90 bucks total cost from ebay. I've put a couple of hundred miles on so far, and from day one, I love the feel of the brakes, as well as the stopping power they give. Its not a lot of miles to make a complete comment on them yet, but as I said, so far real good.
