has anyone installed a killswitch in their X? I do a lot of hiking and backpacking and i dont like leaving my X at the trailheads over night. heard a lot of bad stories regarding cars being stolen and vadelized at trailheads.

I actually thought about it and decided it would be easier to just pull the coil wire off the distributor or remove the ign. fuse. You could take it with you or hide it somewhere inside the vehicle. Your average punk kid isn’t going to spend the extra time required to figure out why it won’t start after he’s busted apart the column and hotwired the truck. He’d rather move on to easier prey or just bust out the windows and set it on fire right where it’s parked. One caution though, plug and coil wires weren’t made to be handled a lot and break easy. Guess you could carry a spare…or on second thought maybe best to just leave the wire alone and remove the fuse..

I also had this thought that if I put a kill switch on the coil primary (low voltage side) that eventually the switch contacts could get corroded or dirty and might shut off the engine while driving ..an it’d probably happen right as I was making a left turn in front of traffic …semi truck no less..

pull fuel pump relay. These can fit in your pocket or glove box. can be handled with out any problem.

You can always wire a toggle switch into the relay box and flip it if you want to kill the pump.

I agree on the fuel pump relay.
You could wire in a master kill switch to the battery and put the switch in a location that's not easily found as well, but that might only slow down the more determined people.

Is there a write up on this? or can you give me any more details on how to go about identifying where & what wires to tap into?
