Hey:

Saw a couple of those DIY metal dash trim kits from Woodview up on Ebay...Wondering if anyone has used before...If so, please advise as to ease of use, appearance, durability (does it fall off?), etc...Thanks

Booo. Don't do it.

AFAIK, they're for 2000 only.

Do a search. Someone had some nice pics of some installed.Thought about it myself. But that's all I did.

I think that the titanim finish that comes with the 2001 SE is all I can handle!

Could very well be that kits for the 2001 are out or coming out now, so YMMV.

As for why I frown about 'em, well - look at this example. The carbon fiber kit is expensive. You have to install it yourself or pay someone (dealer, shop) to do it. At the dealership, I saw a "carbon fiber kit" on a showroom Maxima... FOR $895!!!

The trim kit was also damaged and peeling off. For $895, considering it hasn't even left the showroom yet and it's damaged already... Would you want one?

Think about longevity, too. Look at some cars that have been on the road a few years that have these types of glue-on kits installed. Many have missing pieces, are damaged or just plain go out of style. You'll have to consider resale value at some point.

IMO, the only way to do it is to get a replacement part with the desired effect intrinsic to it's design. That is, get a kit that's more than just glue-on pieces. Much longer lasting, better quality and definately nicer looking...

Metal in the dash....Nope...

Get into an accident and see how well that feels......

Some plastics might be hard , but they give , and will crack if hit hard enough.

Older car models had metal in the interior. Wonder why they all took it out.???

Safety....
