For those of you new Xterra owners read on. I got my X (nicknamed El Sol) home last weekend and went over it closely. I was actually looking for any possible defects or rust spots so we can nip it early. Anyway, I was horrified to see an area about 3" high that ran from the front wheel well to the rear wheel well that looked like it was bubbling up. I didn't know if it was rust or maybe ornage peel from shoddy workmanship. The weird thing was that it looked too perfect. It was the same height and length on all doors. But the rest of the X was as smooth as glass??? It turns out that Nissan made it that way on purpose. It is t help with kicked up rocks and lessens the paint chipping problem. So before anyone panics like I did, relax and sleep easier tonight.
