When I need it, I normally leave the a/c on my 2000 X-Terra set to 1 or 2. I recently noticed that the air was not blowing when I had the a/c turned on. Turns out that settings 1, 2 and 3 don't work but 4 does. The problem now is that it is either too hot (with the a/c off) or too cold (with the setting on 4). Has anyone else had this problem? I suspect it is a bad switch. If so, how hard is it to remove the dash and replace the switch?

I'm guessing you're talking about your blower motor speeds for your interior fan. What your describing would definately point at a faulty resistor pack and not the switch itself. As to the exact location, I'm afraid I can't help you out there, but others will know for sure.

Search "resistor" in problems and annoyances for details.
