Does anyone know the spec for maximum allowable runnout for the front disks? I am feeling a considerable amount of pulsation at low speeds, when coming to a stop. I measured the runnout on my disks (while on the car) to be within .0035 in (total swing). That doesn't seem too bad, but then again, I don't know what the spec is. Could the pulsation be coming from the rear brakes?

AustinLeo,
According to the manual for my 2001, it looks like the max runout is 0.0028. Time to turn or replace them.

As far as the pulsing coming from the drums, it's possible, but highly unlikely, especially given that runout number.

Thanks. Do you know if the spec is for total swing, or distance from the midpoint?

AustinLeo,
This is all the manual says:

ROTOR Runout
1. Check runout using a dial indicator.
Make sure that wheel bearing axial end play is within the
specifications before measuring. Refer to AX-5, “Front Wheel Bearing”.
Maximum runout:
0.07 mm (0.0028 in)
2. If the runout is out of specification, machine rotor with on-car
brake lathe (“MAD, DL-8700”, “AMMCO 700 and 705” or
equivalent).

I'm not familiar with your total swing or midpoint terms...could you elucidate please ?
If it helps, the picture they show is with the dial gauge mounted to one of the A arms.

In any case though, if you have pulsating it is time to do some work...
