Tried search, no luck, so here goes...

Just changed all of the belts in the X last weekend, not that bad of a job as long as you have the right amount of Sam Adams on hand. Quick question...how much is the reccomended amount of deflection in the belts? I made it pretty much the same as what it was before, which I thought was pretty tight to begin with but am figuring the new ones will stretch in a little bit.

I don't want to wear out the bearings in the tensioners prematurely, but also have heard that higher belt tension is normal.

Any input is appreciated, thanks.

The belt for the SC needs to be tighter than a typical fan belt. Sorry, I don't have a deflection number handy. But you'll know if the SC belt is too loose if you see a fine black residue near the SC nose or even on the underside of the hood.

dave and xtoy - no SC, but the car has one smile
