I have not been impressed with the base model stereo that came with my 05 Xterra S and have looked high & low for a double DIN unit. The RF unit needs too much work and I finally stumbled upon ths unit. It is non RF, but has the following upgrades, bass, mid & treble, Speed sensitive volume, 6 CD changer , MP3 as well as RDS, plus it sounds 200% better than the original OEM unit. I removed the two connectors & antenna plugged this new unit in, and 15 mins. later, I was in hog heaven. Here is the pic.

That is pretty nice, where did you find it? Is that OEM Nissan for the Altima / Versa?

I'm also very interested in some more information on that Stereo. Where did you get it from? And how much? It looks almost identical to the RF Stereos.

The great thing is that is not an RF unit, so you don't need an external amp. You get all the great features like the RF unit that I mentioned, and it uses the same two connectors as the original base unit. I got it on ebay.

This is just a guess but it might be from a canadian X....

do they offer the RF package?? If not then I bet that is their 'premium' version of the stereo.

I looked at doing the same thing, but this non-RF 6-disk runs around $350 used via ebay unless you score a deal - the unit is out of the Frontier, which has the amp built into the head unit, where the RF and the Bose use external amp's.

What I ended up doing, because I live in a tuff hood and had two aftermarket stereos stolen. I ended up getting an older unit (which I think sounds better) that allowed for an external 6-disk, so I modded it for the AUX in - the neat thing is that the face plate from my '05 stereo was able to swap onto the older stereo, so it looks new-ish.

Linky for XOC "AUX" in Mod
