Hey All,

I am new to the forums and from the South Florida area. I am a proud owner of a 2005 Xterra SE with 24,000 miles on it. I love the truck but have only one small issue. I know it's not weather related due to the fact I live in Florida and it's never cold down here but on a cold engine start, it usually revs up to 1,500 RPMs and stays there until it get warm and then drops to around 700 or so. Is this normal in your trucks or is there something I should check?

Thanks Guys!

That is Perfectly Normal - and not unique to Nissan or the Xterra either, in fact every vehicle made since anyone can remember has a high idle setting to help the engine warm up you'll also notice shift points will be pushed back and OD may not engage until both engine and tranny have warmed up all perfectly normal. BTW - The thermometer here at the house read 7 below outside this morning.

Brr... Saturday

Thanks for your reply. I felt it was a bit weird because my last truck was a 2006 Silverado SS and it never got that high on a cold start. Once again, thanks.
