Pictures: Photos of Problem

Hi, I went off-roading yesterday and encountered a difficult hill. As I was ascending, the truck was bouncing around in big ruts. Afterwards, I wasn't able to steer completely to the right. I noticed the idler arm linkage (not sure what it's called) is hitting the area where the upper control arm mounts to the frame. What is my problem? How do I fix this? Thanks!

Sounds like you bent the centerlink... There is a solid bolt on one end and a balljoint on the other end? The bolt end bends pretty easy. Bent a few myself already. They are about $60 - $90 a piece and pretty easy to replace.

Either that or the tie-rods. If you are still driving around on the stock tie-rods then it's time to replace them with HD ones. Those break/bend even easier than the bolt on the centerlink.

Ok. Thanks for your reply. What HD tie rod ends do you recommend? I see this kit on Calmini's site but I don't want to spend $600 bucks on it: http://www.purenissan.com/steering_system.htm

Would their tie-rod ends work with my stock steering parts (http://www.purenissan.com/tie_rod_ends2.htm)?

What year is your X?

Take a good hard look at the adjusters, and the center link( that is if you have a first gen). You are more likely to taco an adjuster than a centerlink but I do have a bent centerlink in my basement hanging on the wall.

Second gens have a slightly different setup.

I have a 2001 Xterra SE 4WD. Ok. I will look at the adjuster.
