Ok I have a slight squeeling when i aply the brakes and then seems to go away .. this just started happening a week ago .. so I finaly got off my ass and was going to change the pads but when I took a look I still have about 4mm left until they hit the squeeler... Im at 30,000mi
i didnt check the rear cus at 15,000mi I still had 80% left on them...
Is the squeeling coming from the metalic brakes? Are they metalic brakes?? I dunno should I just replace them?

If it's just a slight squealing I wouldn't worry about it. Lots of things can cause that...dirt, brake dust, brake glaze, temperature, etc. You could try doing a few hard stops from 30 MPH or so. SOmetimes that will remove the glaze if that's what's causing the noise. usually glazing is caused by riding the brakes though or braking too lightly all the time. You aren't doing that are you? eek laugh

.... I never ride the brakes but ya I always brake lightly and gear down,.. is this a bad thing or just going to leave a bit of glaze. [Smoking]

It's not unusual for brake rotors to 'flash rust' overnight when the air gets humid. This almost invisable rust coating will cause some noise for the first few brake applications - til it gets rubbed off. Not considered a problem so there is no good cure.

dave and xtoy - or move to a real dry place wink
