Most people report that they get best performance from the Nissan V6 with NGK plugs, and many report issues with the fancy-schmancy ones.

Except for cost, there is nothing wrong with those plugs. However, I would stick with NGK plugs for nissan motors. With other vehicles, different plugs may give better service but for whatever reason, nissan motors like NGK plugs.

The 2002/2003 models come factory with double-tip platinum plugs instead of the single-tip platinum ones that the earlier ones have. Might be worth playing with. Me, when the time comes, I think I'll try a set of NGK copper plugs instead. Copper plugs don't last as long as platinum, but perform better from what I understand. NGK doesn't spec a copper plug for the Xterra, but going back down the Pathfinder applications to 1998 (same VG33E engine) you find the BKR5E-11# V-power plug with a .044 gap specified (they went to platinum in 99) so I figure that ought to work.

If you want a plug with the performance of copper, and will last almost as long as a platinum, go with the NGK iridium plugs. Since installing mine (more than 6 months ago), I've yet to have a hard start, and the engine feels more responsive. Since I've upped my timing to 12 degrees BTDC, I went with a plug that is one step colder than stock (part #BKR6EIX).
