I have one that's about 4 months old and is losing power. About 3/4 of the way up it won't even lift a can of paint. Is there anywhere to add hydraulic oil to it? Anything ot check? No clue where my receipt is so I doubt I can swap it (no lifetime on the jacks).

It's the Craftsman Professional 3 1/2 Ton seen here:

I had the same one with the same problem. I tried bleading air out of it and topping off the oil. Ended up returning the POS and getting my money back.
I ended up getting one from PepBoys. It was less money and works great.

How do you top off the oil? No receipt so no return so I might as well use it as a secondary jack. I'm going to buy anohter (not the same one) as I need two.

I've got the same jack. Sounds like you've got air trapped in the system. I believe the "bleeding" instructions go something like this: jack the lifting arm all the way up. Loosen, but do not remove the fill / bleeder bolt (keep it finger-tight). Lower the lifting arm. Slightly loosen the fill / bleeder bolt when the lifting arm is all the way down. You should hear air escaping if there is any. Tighten bolt. Repeat as necessary.

It's just below where you put the handle into the jack. Might still have a little plastic cap on it? Mine even has "hydraulic jack fluid only" stamped by the bolt but don't count on seeing that. My neighbor has the exact same one sans stamp. FWIW - if you get it working correctly again, be a bit more aware of how you transport / store it. I caused my own problem by setting it sideways while moving some stuff in my garage.

The warranty isn't the same on floor jacks..only the tools.

It still has a one year warranty and it's a Craftsman so there is no doubt where you bought it. Trust me, they stand behind all their products, not just their tools. Try it and see. Make a fuss if you have to. And don't they get your phone number and stuff when you buy from Sears? I can't remember, but I think they have every time I've bought a tool or something from them. So they might have you in their system. Plus, there might be a manufactor date stamped or on some kind of tag to prove age. I would still try is all I'm saying.

If you bought it with a credit card then use your credit card statement as proof of purchase. Sears wont give you a hard time returning it.
