I think the stock hood on the 2000 is lame compared to the 2002-2004. I know the whole front end is different but I'm not interested in switching to round headlights. I was thinking more along the lines of getting a 2002 hood and sculpting the hood gaps over the headlights with fiberglass.

Anyone with bodywork experience try this?

I'm not interested in puting some little hood scoop in the middle of the hood. My only other option would be to take my hood, cut the entire section that dips down out, and rebuild it higher.

The fenders are the same, but changing the profile of the 2002 hood will be a real pain in the rear.

It would almost be easier to weld sections out of the old hood on the new one, which would be much stronger than fiberglass.

The hood lines are different, the 02's have about a 1 3/4" taller hood line at the front....so that's a gap to start with....

The widths for the front clips are different too...in short, I think it would be easier to take the pre-'02 hood that already mounts and aligns properly, and modify it to look like what you want it to.

(To me it seems like a lot of work for a cosmetic change, but, its not my truck, and the important thing is it means something to you to make your hood look like a later year's.)

As long as you are starting with a blank canvas...is the 02 the perfect hood, or just better than the pre-02? (You could just design a new style from scratch, and make that, etc.)

Thanks for the responses.

I was just hoping to make my front end look more aggressive. The problem is the 2000-2001 hood actually dips in when it would look meaner bulging up like the 2002-2004. I'll probably take my stock hood, cut out a hole going most of the length down the middle, and then build it back up using fiberglass.
