Where do you all dispose of your old oil after an oil change?

Put the old oil in the now empty quart containers and take them to a oil change place. Like Jiffy Lube. I tip the guys just to be nice but they will take them without a tip.

Depends on where you live, but here in Howard County, MD, any shop that changes oil is required to accept your oil at no charge. Just down the road in the next county, they can charge a fee for it.

I pour it down the nearest storm drain....... Actually, in NY I think if you sell oil you have to take back any old oil people bring in. Usually service stations have no problem taking it in.

In Connecticut (at least in South Windsor), you can place it in a transparent milk jug, mark it "OIL" and place it with your recycling stuff on trash day.

Does it make any difference if you bring used regular oil or synthetic oil to a oil change place?

Xterra is the first vehicle I started using synthetic oil, so I was wondering about that for a while.

Nope, it's all compatible. Heck, they even let me pour my old 80W90 gear oil in the sump when I changed my diffs.

I drop ship all of my old oil to Boarder Phreak... He lubes himself up with it and does some crazy "Graveyard Bone Dance" on Saturday nights.

I don't ask questions, I just ship the oil...

PNUT can I get that address for BoarderPhreak. Checkers, where I work, is looking for an economical way to get rid of waste oil they collect.

******JUST POUR IT ON THE GROUND*******

Just kidding, but all this talk about what to do with your used oil got me thinking of when I was a kid and how things have changed over the last 20 years. Our house was located in a nation forest (cleveland National Forest, just East of San Diego) and the forest service used to come around once a year in a big tanker truck and "oil down" the dirt road that led to our house from the main highway. They would spray a thick layer of used motor oil and let it soak in to form a kind of cheap asphalt to help hold the road together. Of course if you did that yourself today you would be looking at jail time in the federal Penn.

I like to pour it in the parking lot drain then run to the nearby river and watch it turn into a rainbow!

Makes all the ducks float on their backs too!
