anyone have any advice on this? what level should the fluid be up to - just up to the plug?

i have a bit of atf at the gasket on the case and i want to make sure it's minor...

Yeah, park on a level surface and remove the check/fill plug, its the higher of the two on the transfer case.

The ATF shold be level with the bottom of the plug hole, if a small stream of ATF runs out thats ok too.
