Thanks! The siding is pine log board. I was actually taking a picture of the siding because I had just put a fresh coat of sealer on it and it looked soooo much better! The Xterra just happened to be in the way. smile Was actually a small 2 bedroom lake front vacation home my Dad built, but I lost my job so I'm moving in, looking for work in a town of 1,000 (wish me luck), and hopefully buying the house if everything works out.

Those are great looking pictures. I was looking at the first one, and it looks like the rack is painted black..is that right? If it is, what kind of paint did you use? Did you have to prime or prepare it any way first?

yeah, it's Hammerite Hammered Black. It has some grey flake in it and texture so it looks like a dark grey. I have it on both bumpers and my sliders too. So far it's holding up pretty well on the rack after a bit over a year. I just sanded, no primer or anything. I'll try and post a closeup when I get home tonight.

Good stuff check. The truck looks great.

By the way, I'm looking at moving up to your area of the country possible by the beginning of summer.

Whidbey Island would be our new home if things work out.

Here's a closeup of one of the middle supports that I took right after painting.

Snoopy; Whidbey Island is great! Let us know when you are coming here so we can get you joined up in PNWX. smile

I really like the way that looks. Thanks for the close-up. Where can you get Hammerite? Home-depot or similar stores?

I get it at Home Depot. Look for either Hammerite or Rustoleum "Hammered"...they are the same thing.

Absolutely. I'm jealous too. I've been trying to get back to the PNW for 15 years. I love it there.

Beautiful pics and a great looking X! Sorry to hear about your job. But if you're forced to move, you've definitely picked the right place! It looks gorgeous there.

Good luck to ya.

I forgot something about the roofrack paint job for those interested:

I applied 3M Scotchcal protection film in places on the rack where things contact it, such as on the side bars where the gear basket sits. Keeps the paint from getting worn off. Also put some on the crossbars where I would likely run straps or such around.

Daventx and Wags; if you get back here make sure you join the club! smile

I have a 3 second memory...was it the rear bumper or the front bumper you like so much? laugh Reason I ask is if things go well and I can come up with the money for materials I may (key word being "may") build another rear bumper after I'm done modifying mine some more with a new latch and hinge setup. If I sucessfully build one it would be similar to mine but hopefully more refined. Then I would either sell the new one or keep it and sell the old one. Just depends on how this winter goes.

keep me posted on the situation, it is the rear bumper on yours that i like, i have the calmini up front, but if you do make a second one let me know about either one that's up for sale, as i probably won't be buying one till spring sometime if i went to an aftermarket company. keep me posted.
