Not trying to hijack your post, but WTF is head cheese? Just doesn't sound right at ALL!

Great shots by the way!

OK Head Cheese: First understand that I come from a remote area where alot of people hunt for their meat for the year, most have lived up here for generations. They try to get every bit of meat off the bone. If you have seen the movie "Snow Dogs" that town is kinda like Jefferson.

Well Head Cheese is made from the head of the animal, the head is boiled to get all of the meat off and then reduced over heat. This then turns into a gelatanous stringy tofu like substance. They cut it up and use it in soup or as a side dish. NASTY!!!!

One guy offered me some once, I did not know what it was, thiniking it was cheese until I saw it. He said "This is REALLY good... best I have made in a while... it is made from Bear & Deer". [Huh?] eek

Wow... that is just amazing...

Tempted to hit the gas and do some ARB hunting?

BTW - can a photography nut tell me why the corners of the pictures get black like that sometimes? That happens in a fair number of my scuba pictures.

I'm not quite sure why.

From a physics standpoint it seems like the edges of ANY aperture would be affected by diffraction. That being said, only the corners of a rectangular film (or sensor) will be close to the aperture's projection edges. It is probably a phenomena that is present in all pictures, but only obvious in lower light (in comparison to exposure) conditions.

So that's my theory, anyway.

that's called vignetting.

it happens because something becomes visable to your lens. convertors, lens hoods and sometimes just cheap lenses (the barrel becomes visible at certain focal lengths) can make that happen. if you zoom in a little, it usually goes away.

do you have a lens hood?

HA!

I was dead wrong. I just googled vignetting and it said nothing about diffraction.....
