I'm running the stock tires on my 2001 XE right now but I want to get some new tires for the winter. Normally I'll just be going through alot of rain but I will be travelling up to the ski hill every Saturday/Sunday for the good part of November-January, and I will be taking a long road trip to the East Kootenays where there will most likely be alot of snow.

Any recommendations?

I'd recommend just getting a set of A/Ts with good snow traction. A bonus is that they're useful year-round. The Deuler A/T Revos are great tires for such use. I don't have them on my truck currently, but I have driven through snowy roads with them on an F-150.

Anyway, that's just my take on the matter.

DLG is right on. The AT Revo's would be good all year around. Almost as good as a snow tire but you can run them without switching. If you want a little better snow traction then you can get steel wheels and snow tires for about $650. Just the all terrain tires would be about $525 total. So the choice is yours, for about another $150 you can get a whole different set just for the snow or the all terrains which are almost as good.

Don't waste your money on snow tires with a second set of wheels. The people I run into who do a lot of snow driving(i.e. El Paso County search and rescue) use mud/all terrains with lots of siping. Snow tires are only good for the hardpack you find on the street. Get in some fresh powder and you might as well have some slicks on the car! The revos should do just fine and they'll leave the room in the garage/shed/under the deck for a second set of wheels with mud terrains on em.

BTW-

Only one of those links is less than a year old. Lots of new tire models have come out in the past year!
