Well, I've decided to upgrade to 33's on my X since I've got my lifts installed. Now I'm having problems deciding which tires to get. Right now I'm running 31" MT/R's and I really like them. They have been steller performers off-road and have been wearing great even with the X being my daily commuter. But I have been reading good things about the KM's and now I'm having a hell of a time deciding which ones to get. I had BFG MT's before and didn't like them as much as my MT/R's, but I think the KM's are a different beast altogether.

Anyhow, any advice would be appreciated. Concrete evidence on which is better one way or the other would be even better. Thanks all.

It's hard to miss but, did you read the Trxus thread? They will be available soon in 33x12.50R-15LT... I haven't seen any pricing on them yet. A lot of good things are being said about them. I got quoted on the 285\75R16 for $134 mounted & balanced. I would assume they would be a little cheaper.
Just a thought

I would go with what you have tested and grown to already love. If the MTR's have done for you what you want a tire to do then go with them.

Check out the thread "anybody revied the new BFG MT's?" thread. rwheaton posted a link to a jeep forum that were discussing the tire. It seemed like the jeepers preferred Goodyear MT/R over the BFG MT.

Is it true that the MT/R's create more road noise?

The state-of-the-art off-road tire includes a 3-ply sidewall and advanced silica compound for excellent durability and puncture resistance. While a new tread pattern provides increased element and lug stiffness and uniform treadwear.

I would go with the MT/R's if you're happy with them now...plus they run quite small, which should help out gearing wise. I've actually thought about switching to 33" MT/R's now because they're a bit smaller than my 32" Swampers, and as such I expect I'd have a bit more highway power. They also weigh less and should wear better than Swampers or the BFG muds.

Your control arm rubbing problem may be worse though with the wider tread.

This is true, but I'm pretty far from rubbing on my fender/wheelwell lip, so I suspect I can switch to rims with less backspacing to accomodate. Not exactly eager to spend the money just yet to experiment though. smile

If this is true, stick with the MT/R's.
