I wasn't sure where to post this but I was wondering what the limiting factor is with the X's max payload capacity? I think around 1000 is the max of the X.

I was comparing this to our old 86 Toyota mini-van that we sold recently. It had a payload of 1850 pounds. The suspension was similar to the X with the leaf springs in the back of the van but the ride in this van was very choppy.

So what was the difference? Is it all in the shocks? Could I simply put heavier duty shocks in the X to increase the payload or is it something else that limits this. The X certainly looks stronger than that old funky-looking van. What did that van have that the X didn't that allowed almost double the payload? The curb weight of the van was only 2800 pounds compared to over 4000 for the X. Perhaps by making the van out of tin foil they were able to increase the payload? Is the X built too heavy so there is no more room left for a heavy payload?

Any ideas?
