My buddy at work who also owns an X wants to install a new radio. He's not sure how to take off the radio panel, so I thought I would post a question and see if anyone has any useful info? I did a search too, but wasn't successful. Any ideas will be appreciated. His X is 2000, BTW. Thanks! wink

remove the ashtray

remove the 2 screws behind the ashtray

gently pry the black trim up and off, there are 2 plastic clips that hold it in place at the top

remove the screws that hold the radio in place

I believe you can go to the following web site. You'll need to create a profile for yourself (it's free), then you should be able to view the images:

Remove the trim around the 4 wheel control with gentle pulling on both sides. There are two screws forward of the shifter and two screws facing towards the roof of the truck just above the radio. Remove all screws and gently remove the molding around the radio and environmental controls. You will need to unplug the power to the 12v outlet before you can remove the panel 100%. Very easy to do [Wave]
