I'm thinking of a small modification for my 2001 Xterra, adding two push-button switches (one for the windshield the other for the rear window) wired to activate the windshield washer pump without starting the wipers (to prevent the wiper to run on a dry window and scratch the glass)...

After examination of the schematics, I came to these conclusions:

- Both (front and rear) washer pump have always their positive side connected to the +12v, they are activated by connecting the negative side to the ground.

- The control module starts the wiper as soon as it detects that the pump is running so I must use a relay to disconnect the motor from the module and connect the ground directly.

Any idea or opinions are welcome.

you don't have to do that..
Hit the washer switch for .1 to .25 second.. tap it and release.. do that 5 or 6 times and the (front) window is soaked.. the rear i don't know... there is a washer back there? [Smoking] Cool..
