I'm thinking about getting some of those 165 watt KC Daylighters to put on my WAAG. I've read all of the posts about how to get the wires through the firewall and into the cabin, but couldn't find anything about how the actual lights tap into the cars power supply (I'm assuming the battery).
Would someone who's wired lights like this before care to comment on how they plug in (perhaps some sort of instructions because I'm not that good at putting things together--it took me close to two hours to install the waag front gaurd). And let me know if these are decent lights for riding around town or if I should look at something different.
Thanks, Alex

KC Daylighters won't be good lights for "riding around town"--you'll just blind everyone. They are WAY WAY too bright for street use. If you really want to use them on the street w/ other cars look for 55W Hellas or PIAA's, I'd say. If you go brighter, don't use them onroad, it's just obnoxious. ------------------ Vikram/gothamist -- MAXC member http://www.4x4LO.com

I understand they're really bright, but I was planning to use them like high beams--have them on when no one's coming, and turn them off when a car pops up.
Thanks for the tip on the wiring, but I was looking more for information on how I should route the wires from the battery to the relay and back to the switch. As well as where to put the relay and where to put the switch although I think the switch will fit in the spare place next to the rear wiper switch.
Also, does anyone know how to attach them to my brush gaurd. Do you have to drill?

To wire the battery to the relay, just attach a wire to the positive battery terminal and plug it into the relay.
When I installed my KC's in my WAAG Sportster I had to widen the predrilled holes. Just used a Dremel to widen them a bit. Had to do the same thing when mounting them on my ARB.
The lights are specifically for offroad use only. Even says so on the box. And by the way, they're 150watt. I thought they were 165, too, when I purchased the set online. Turns out they're 150.
