I just picked up a new set of replacement double-tipped NGK spark plugs from my local dealer (PFR5G-11). Much to my suprise, they were not gapped to spec. (.043in/1.1mm). WTF? More confusing is the fact that even the box says to check and adjust the gap to the particular engine they'll be used in. I thought you weren't supposed to mess with the gap on platinum plugs?

Once they're gapped you shouldn't touch them. The electrode has a little platinum piece that can get damaged or broken off if you try to gap the plug. I thought the dealer would gap the plug though. confused
